Social Emotional Services and Mental Health Supports
In order to meet the needs of all of our students, Arts in Action uses a system of Positive Behavior Supports and Restorative Justice Practices.
Positive Behavior Supports is based on the principle that positive reinforcement and teaching is more effective than punishment and negative reinforcement. Students need to learn appropriate behaviors, including problem-solving, emotional self-regulation, relationship building and conflict resolution.
Restorative Justice is based on the principle that repairing harm to relationships and the community is an important part of building a safe, inclusive, and culturally responsive community.
For mental health services, the school partners with CARE Solace. CARE provides case management and helps families, students and staff access comprehensive mental health services, including support with finding counseling and psychiatric services.
